Why are HID so expensive?
Why are they so expensive? Xenon HID bulbs are more expensive than halogens due to the different technology and gases used to produce the bulb but on the flip side they do last a lot longer than halogen bulbs.
Is HID worth it?
HIDs are substantially brighter than halogen bulbs and the light they emit has a higher frequency than halogen bulbs, making them excellent for fog and other difficult conditions. They are, however, less than ideal to drive into. Oncoming drivers commonly mistake HIDs for high–beams.
Does HID lights get hot?
HID lights can reach very, very high temperatures (far in excess of what a halogen can achieve). They can be uncomfortable to touch after being used, but they don’t reach the 100 – 300 degree temperature range common for even low-end headlights.
Is LED cheaper than HID?
When we crunch the numbers for indoor producers (given average electrical rates), we typically predict a break-even point of 3–5 years. What that means is that in 3–5 years, LED lights become cheaper than HID lights. Producers that want to grow for longer than 5 years need to be using LED lights.
Are HID headlights safe?
When driving at night, HID lights give the driver more light to see with, particularly in the area immediately in front of their vehicle. In theory, this may make them safer for the driver, but in reality it can actually cause more danger because the strong blue light they emit often blinds other drivers.
