Who should not take DULERA?

DULERA is not for adults and children with asthma who are well controlled with an asthma control medicine, such as a low to medium dose inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) medicine. DULERA is for adults and children with asthma who need both an ICS and long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) medicine.

Can I stop taking DULERA?

You can stop taking the asthma drug Dulera (mometasone and formoterol) when you and your doctor decide it is safe and recommended for you to stop taking it. Usually this will be once your asthma symptoms are well under control.

Is DULERA safe?

Dulera has been found to be safe and effective in children ages 5 years and older. In clinical trials, children ages 12 to 17 years with asthma were treated with the same doses of Dulera as adults. The drug’s rates of effectiveness and safety were similar for both children and adults.

Does dulera have steroids in it?

Formoterol is a long-acting bronchodilator. Mometasone is a steroid. Formoterol and mometasone is a combination medicine used to control and prevent the symptoms of asthma in adults and children at least 5 years old.

How can I minimize the side effects of Dulera?

Make sure to take Dulera exactly as your doctor tells you to.

  • Give your doctor a list of all medicines (prescription and nonprescription) and dietary and herbal supplements that you take.
  • Rinse your mouth with water after each dose of Dulera to reduce your risk of developing a yeast infection (oral thrush).
  • Keep Dulera away from your eyes.
  • Does Dulera cause weight gain?

    Dulera has cortisone in it and cortisone is known for weight gain. There’s no side effect of weight gain in the list of side effects for Dulera, but they always say, this list may not be all of the side effects.

    How to take Dulera?

    Dulera should be administered as two inhalations twice daily every day (morning and evening) by the orally inhaled route (see Patient Instructions for Use in the Patient Information leaflet). Shake well prior to each inhalation. After each dose, the patient should be advised to rinse his/her mouth with water without swallowing.

    Does Dulera cause high blood pressure?

    Dulera may have stimulating effects on the heart and blood pressure. This may result in a fast heart rate (tachycardia), high blood pressure (hypertension), or an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia).
